Motorola’s MobilePad 800 Wireless Personal Data Communicator Ships With WisdomPen Lite Chinese Handwriting Recognition
PALO ALTO, Calif. — June 7, 1999 — Motorola, Lexicus Division, a part of Motorola's newly formed Personal Networking Group, announced today that it has adapted its award-winning WisdomPen Chinese handwriting recognition software for use in the MobilePad 800 wireless personal data communicator.
Shipping today, Motorola's MobilePad 800 combines e-mail transfer, personal information management applications and paging functionality, specifically designed for Chinese users.
With the WisdomPen system, MobilePad 800 users can input and retrieve information from the device's address book, calendar and messaging applications in their own natural handwriting style. Motorola, Lexicus Division's expertise in the handwriting recognition field has enabled the development of a highly accurate, fast system that accepts input of over 6,000 handwritten Simplified Chinese characters.
