Oracle to Integrate Oracle Media Server with Motorola Envoy
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — March 4, 1994 — Oracle Corp. today announced it will bring Oracle Media Server access to General Magic's Magic Cap platform and the Motorola Envoy personal wireless communicator. The Oracle Media Server, server software that defines how information is stored, retrieved and reaches its destination, is based on powerful database and messaging technology which can process the thousands of transactions per second and manage the multiple data types (such as audio, video and text) that are required for interactive business and consumer services. The Oracle Media Server is the basis for several ongoing deployments of interactive consumer services.
Oracle and Motorola's joint work will enable any user of an Envoy personal wireless communicator to access a full spectrum of server-based data services, such as database servers, mail servers and file servers as well as multimedia servers.
