Palm Unveils Unlimited Access Pricing Plan for Palm VII Customers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — February 22, 2000 — In an expansion of its Palm.Net(TM) wireless service for Palm VII(TM) handheld computers, Palm, Inc., a 3Com Company (NASDAQ:COMS) today introduced a new service plan. At $44.99 per month, the new "Unlimited Access Pricing Plan" provides customers access to Internet content and e-mail as frequently as they want for a single, low fixed price throughout the Palm.Net network of 260 metropolitan areas across the USA.

Designed specifically to provide wireless access for handhelds, the Palm.Net service connects Palm VII handheld users with the Internet. The Palm.Net service is closely integrated into the product, so that users can activate the wireless service directly from the handheld, and can have a single point of contact with Palm to resolve questions regarding their device or service. Users interested in lower volume, lower cost plans can still take advantage of the two other existing plans. The "Basic Plan" at $9.99/month offers 50 KB of data, or roughly 80 transactions per month. The $24.99/month "Expanded Plan" includes 150 KB or approximately 240 transactions per month. Current users of the existing Palm.Net Volume Plan, which delivers 300 KB for$39.99/month, can continue using that plan or upgrade to the new plan for just $5 more per month.

The new pricing plan is effective immediately. "Customer response to the Palm VII handheld has been extremely positive, and we are continually looking for ways to improve our offering for both new and existing customers," said Bob Harvey, Senior Director of Palm.Net Services at Palm, Inc. "This new plan allows customers to freely access the Internet and give out their Palm.Net e-mail address without worrying about how much their service bill will be on a monthly basis."
