PC EXPO in New York to Showcase the Next Generation of Mobile Computing and Communications
FORT LEE, N.J. — May 22, 1995 — The next generation of mobile computing technology will be in the spotlight at PC EXPO(R) in New York, June 20-22, including expected new product announcements of Pentium-based notebook computers and innovations in wireless communications for business.
PC EXPO will also feature an expanded Mobile Computing Pavilion and a comprehensive Mobile seminar track in the PC EXPO Corporate Training and Education Program, during the three-day event at the Javits Center in New York City.
New notebook computers are expected at PC EXPO, according to Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies International, based in San Jose, CA. "PC EXPO in New York will be the first major event of the year where the next generation of Pentium-based computers will be announced," said Mr. Bajarin.
Innovations in wireless communications will also be on display at PC EXPO, explained Mr. Bajarin, as business takes advantage of software advances in this area and also gains a greater understanding of how to implement the technology — both in corporate environments and for individual use for telecommuting and home office computing.
Scores of PC EXPO exhibitors will showcase portable technology and services on the main exhibit floor (Level III of the Javits Center), including: Apple Computer Inc., AST Research, AT&T Global Information Solutions, Compaq, CompuTrend, Dell, Digital Equipment Corporation, Ergo Computing, Everex, Gateway 2000, Hertz, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel Corp., MobileWare Corp., Motorola, NEC Corp., Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Texas Instruments, Twinhead Corp., Toshiba, UNISYS, Xircom and Zenith Data Systems.
Several emerging companies showcasing new products and services will exhibit in the Mobile Computing Pavilion (Level I), sponsored by Mobile Office magazine. Companies in the Pavilion will include: Altima, Bell Atlantic, Casio, Commax, Dow Jones & Co., Evergreen, ExMachina, Farallon, Funk Software, National Portable Computing Professional Association (NPCPA), Pen Computing magazine, PC Laptop, PCMCIA, Simple Technology, and other companies. The complete PC EXPO exhibit floor will span three levels of the Javits Center, with more than 800 exhibitors participating in the show.
Mobile technology will also be part of the PC EXPO Corporate Education & Training Program; the topic will be covered in one Tutorial, one intensive half-day workshop, and five seminar sessions:

Four new tracks have also been introduced as part of the PC EXPO educational program — the Client/Server, Internet, Groupware and Emerging Technologies. Other Tracks will include topics in Management, Windows(R), Networking and Multimedia.
