PCMCIA Gallery at COMDEX Highlights Acceptance of PC Card Technology

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — November 6, 1992 — In an expanded booth at Comdex Fall, the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) and many of its member companies will be showing the latest in PC card technology.

More than 60 firms are scheduled to participate in the PCMCIA Gallery with products displayed to include the latest in memory cards, I/O cards, drivers, connectors, software, platforms, and more. The quantity of products displayed in the gallery alone demonstrates the diversity and strength of PCMCIA membership as well as representing the high level of implementation available today based on the PCMCIA Standard. "I'm aware of dozens of platforms with PCMCIA card slots which are scheduled for introduction at Comdex. These platform introductions, combined with the activity at PCMCIA Gallery, will give the computer industry at large a sense of just how explosive this technology is," stated John Reimer, chairman of PCMCIA.

A PC Card is a new device which offers large data storage and input-output capability with low-power consumption and fast data access in a compact package measuring the length and width of a credit card.

PCMCIA's membership of over 320 companies includes manufacturers of hardware, software, semiconductor components, connectors and peripherals. To help achieve its goal for a successful global standard, PCMCIA works closely with other standards bodies.

PCMCIA will be located in booth number 7 in the East Hall Annex of the Las Vegas Convention Center at COMDEX.
