Pen Computing Product Sold through Las Vegas Retail Channel for the First Time
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. — November 25, 1996 — Communication Intelligence Corp. (NASDAQ:CICI), who pioneered pen computing with the Handwriter(R), is now entering the retail market with an initial rollout in CompUSA's Las Vegas store.
Handwriter is a complete input system that brings the power of pen computing to desktop Windows users at all levels of experience. With Handwriter, using your computer is now as simple and natural as pointing, drawing and writing with pen and paper — allowing you to maximize your comfort and creativity.
The Handwriter software system includes a set of pen utilities, advanced handwriting recognition and pen operating environments compatible with existing applications. The hardware consists of a state-of-the-art cordless pen and ultra-thin tablet.
New computer users can sit back, relax and edit word processing documents, spreadsheets, databases and even graphic applications the natural way. In text mode, everything you write on the Handwriter tablet turns to type on the screen.
In electronic ink mode, ideal for annotating documents or desktop publishing, the user's handwriting, sketching or drawing is transferred directly to the screen. Simple shortcut editing marks make it possible to perform functions like copy, cut, paste, insert and delete with the stroke of a pen. The product can be used with a mouse, or instead of a mouse, to move easily through documents and menus.
"Handwriter is a perfect complement to the keyboard," said Jeff Dao, vice president of marketing of CIC. "It offers an easier, healthier and more productive way to use the computer."
Handwriter for Windows sells for under $ 300. The Windows version is compatible with standard applications working in Windows 95, Windows 3.11 and Windows 3.1. For the source nearest you, call 800/888-8CIC (800/888-8242).
