PHYSIX Announces PocketChart for the Apple MessagePad 2000 with Newton 2.1

HOUSTON — October 28, 1996 — PHYSIX Inc., a recognized leader in pen- based electronic medical record software, announces its support of the new Apple MessagePad 2000 with the Newton 2.1 operating system. Taking advantage of the new operating system's enhanced features, PHYSIX plans to release PocketChart (the newest version of its award-winning product, PocketDoc), as well as related software applications specifically intended for the home care market. PocketChart is the ideal clinical tool for those providers desiring increased productivity and reduced dictation costs. With a tap of a pen, a provider can complete an entire patient record, send prescriptions to the pharmacy, collect billing information, and access a great amount of medical data. A built-in drug reference reduces medication dosing errors, significant drug interactions, or contraindications. The billing process is also simplified with on-line selection of ICD-9/CPT codes.

Dr. Glen Orsak, a family practice physician in Galveston, Texas, says, "PHYSIX's extensive medical record and the new features of the Apple MessagePad 2000, will provide me with the mobility and flexibility necessary to document comprehensive patient encounters in far less time. As a long time user of PocketChart, I am looking forward to implementing an entire electronic medical record system with PHYSIX's Windows NT Server."

By reducing administrative tasks, providers can spend more time managing their patients, not their paperwork. Specialty-based clinical templates assure that all pertinent questions are answered and immediately recorded. PHYSIX's Windows NT Server is designed to interface with existing legacy practice management and hospital information software systems. "Our wireless LAN solutions for Integrated Delivery Systems, HMOs, and Group Practices, coupled with the expanded features of the Apple MessagePad 2000, offer an extremely cost-effective electronic medical record solution," says Dr. Thomas Giannulli, founder and president of PHYSIX. "The ability to capture and access clinical information at the point-of-care and in real- time will increase the quality of clinical decisions and consequently, lead to lower treatment costs."

Based in Houston, PHYSIX, Inc., is the market leader in medical software for mobile pen-based computers. Founded in 1994, this new health care technology company develops and markets software programs that electronically link physicians, practice management groups and managed care organizations through wireless point-of-encounter solutions.
