Pocket Quicken SmartWallet Introduced on Motorola Personal Wireless Communicator

MENLO PARK, Calif. — March 7, 1994 — Intuit Inc., (NASDAQ:INTU), the leading developer of personal and small business finance software, Monday announced that it has entered into a letter of intent to include its Pocket Quicken SmartWallet into the Motorola Envoy personal wireless communicator, also announced today.

Motorola's Envoy device, designed with General Magic's Magic Cap software environment, is the first two-way wireless communicator designed for people on the move. Pocket Quicken, created specifically for today's busy professionals, enables users to easily track their business and personal expenditures and keep an account of their daily cash-flow while on-the-go.

"The Envoy personal wireless communicator is the perfect platform for us to offer the benefits of Pocket Quicken SmartWallet," said Scott Cook, president of Intuit. "With Pocket Quicken, Envoy device users gain instant knowledge of exactly how and where they're spending their money. Busy professionals will be able to effortlessly track and organize all of their personal and business expenses."

The introduction of Pocket Quicken for Motorola's Envoy hand-held device is an important step in Intuit's mission of providing financial solutions for mobile individuals. Pocket Quicken makes it easy for users to organize and track their finances — anytime, anywhere. Pocket Quicken, the first personal finance application for the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) market, provides a breakthrough in financial organization by allowing time-constricted consumers and mobile business professionals to capture and review financial information on-the-go. This "any time, anywhere" benefit is a natural next step for Intuit, whose Quicken personal finance product is the leader in the desktop PC market.

Pocket Quicken, a brand-new product that was designed from the bottom up for the personal communicator market, provides the same basic checking, credit card and cash account tracking as the best-selling Quicken personal finance software. Pocket Quicken's innovative design for portability helps on-the-go consumers organize their finances by providing immediate and accurate financial information.

"We believe that Pocket Quicken SmartWallet will revolutionize the way today's busy professionals track and organize their finances," added Cook. "The graphical richness and quality of Magic Cap's environment made it easy for us to develop this breakthrough design of SmartWallet."

Product Benefits

Easy to Use — Pocket Quicken works the way people work throughout their day. It was designed around the familiar concept of a wallet. A user simply points to an object in the wallet (credit card, cash, check), then records spending information on an "electronic receipt." Pocket Quicken then automatically records and categorizes the transaction.

Organizes All Expenses — Pocket Quicken tracks and categorizes all spending, including checking, ATM transactions, credit cards, and cash. With Pocket Quicken, users always know where their money goes.

Business-Travel Expense Tracking — Pocket Quicken makes it easy to track business-travel expenses. A user can quickly set up "envelopes" to track specific business trips or individual clients. At the end of a trip, the envelope will contain all the information for an expense report.

Fast and Convenient Data Entry — Pocket Quicken's portability provides a major step in enabling fast and convenient data entry. Tracking transactions as they occur, Pocket Quicken users can fill out and categorize "electronic receipts" as fast as they can write and record a check using a traditional checkbook.

Portable Financial Manager — Pocket Quicken's mobility makes it easy for users to keep their finances complete, accurate, and up-to-date. Pocket Quicken can be used as a stand-alone personal finance manager with basic report capabilities or as a data capture device that can communicate with desktop versions of Quicken. Users can merge their data with desktop Quicken via a separate connectivity pack.
