Puma Technology’s Intellisync Wins Award From Lotus Notes & Domino Advisor

PHOENIX — March 23, 1998 — Leader in Synchronization Software Honored With Editor's Choice Silver Award From a Panel of the Magazine's Editors

Puma Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:PUMA), the leading provider of advanced synchronization solutions for the handheld device marketplace, today received the prestigious Editor's Choice Silver award in the Personal Digital Assistant Tool category by the editors of Lotus Notes & Domino Advisor for its Intellisync offerings. This technical magazine covers Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino issues and reaches a large audience of IT professionals. This year's annual awards were announced today at Advisor DevCon on Lotus Domino, Notes, & Java, the annual developer conference for IT professionals, held at the Point Hilton at Squaw Peak in Phoenix, Ariz.

Puma was recognized for developing the optimal synchronization support for Lotus Notes, a popular PC-based personal information management (PIM) application, with the company's Intellisync line of software for handheld computers and smart devices. Puma's Intellisync family allows users to synchronize the information in their mobile devices with a number of PC-based applications. These solutions help consumers avoid the scheduling conflicts and outdated entries that can arise from having separate calendars and address books on each device.

Currently, Intellisync supports Lotus Organizer 97 and Organizer GS in the Lotus family. The Intellisync offerings that will initially incorporate support for Lotus Notes — Intellisync for PalmPilot and Windows CE — will ship in the spring of 1998. Intellisync for PalmPilot and Windows CE are currently available for $ 69.95 at major computer stores nationwide, as well as through Puma's web site at www.pumatech.com.

"Puma is proud to receive this prestigious award for our efforts in developing the most intelligent synchronization support for Lotus Notes and popular handheld devices," said Brad Rowe, president and CEO of Puma Technology. "Intellisync is the defacto standard for synchronization in the mobile computing marketplace and our goal is to remain committed to providing the broadest support across PIMs and PDAs to help people keep their business and personal lives organized. It is gratifying to see our work recognized and validated by experts specializing in the Lotus Notes platform."

The publication's Editor's Choice awards recognize companies and products that support the Notes platform. The winners were chosen by the magazine's editors from the offerings displayed at the Lotusphere 98 exposition in Orlando, Fla. and were judged on their innovation and added value for Notes and Domino software users. The Intellisync family of synchronization software supports a wide variety of devices, including the 3Com PalmPilot organizer, the IBM Workpad, the AT&T PocketNet Service-based phones, the Nokia 9000 and 9000i Communicators, the family of Sharp personal organizers, the Texas Instruments Avigo and family of personal organizers, all Windows CE-based handheld PCs, notebook computers and others.

Puma's Intellisync technology is uniquely designed to eliminate the challenges consumers face of synchronizing data between a broad range of disparate PC-based applications and computer platforms. The Intellisync solutions seamlessly synchronize the information between popular PIMs and group schedulers on a notebook or desktop PC with various mobile devices. In addition, Intellisync automatically resolves conflicts which can arise when synchronizing information, such as address changes or conflicting appointments.

DSX(TM) TECHNOLOGY — INTELLISYNC'S POWERFUL ENGINE

Puma's patented DSX technology, the core of all Intellisync solutions, is protected by four United States patents and is the subject of other patents pending. DSX technology accurately synchronizes information between popular contact and scheduling applications and mobile devices. It ensures that all the information contained in these devices and applications is kept in sync as changes are made on a continual basis within the different device environments. DSX technology can go so far as to resolve the intricate differences between how various features and functions of the handheld devices and applications are implemented and also recognize possible entry mistakes such as conflicting appointments or mismatched phone numbers.
