Small Talk For PalmPilot Connected Organizer Awarded 3Com Platinum Certification

SAN FRANCISCO — May 22, 1998 — Concept Kitchen, creators of innovative solutions for mobile computing, today announced that Small Talk(TM) for the PalmPilot(TM) Connected organizer has received the coveted Platinum Certification design for the Palm Computing(R) platform. To receive the certification, the software, which turns the PalmPilot organizer into a real-time two-way foreign language interpreter, had to pass rigorous independent testing, the standard which is established by Palm Computing Inc., a 3Com company.

"Concept Kitchen is pleased to be recognized for bringing this innovative product to the Palm Computing platform," said K. Dale McAdams, president of Concept Kitchen. "The PalmPilot organizer and Small Talk make an unbeatable combination for the busy traveler."

More than just a conventional phrase book or dictionary, Small Talk presents the user with complete sentences intuitively organized into situation-based categories. Small Talk provides travelers with an indispensable, fun-to-use solution for communicating in English, French, Spanish, German, or Italian.

"We are delighted to welcome Concept Kitchen into the Platinum Certification program," added Mark Bercow, vice president of strategic alliances and platform development at Palm Computing. "Independent developers like Concept Kitchen have helped make Palm Computing handhelds essential business and personal productivity tools."

The highly interactive and intuitive program displays icons for real-world situations the traveler may encounter. Simply tapping an icon brings up a list or relevant questions and phrases tailored to the situation. When the traveler selects a question, Small Talk instantly translates the phrase into the foreign language in an easy-to-read flash-card format. The other party may choose from a list of likely responses in the local language, which is then instantly translated to the traveler's language. Small Talk can communicate between any two of the available languages. Concept Kitchen will also be adding additional language modules, further increasing the usefulness of the innovative software.

Concept Kitchen, founded in 1993, is a recognized leader in the handheld/PDA industry, providing end users, VARs and OEMs with innovative software and accessories designed to enhance, simplify and improve the performance of mobile computing platforms.
