Trimble GPS Partners Program Launched At COMDEX
LAS VEGAS — November 18, 1993 — Trimble Navigation (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today its "Trimble GPS Partners" program, a vehicle for providing independent software vendors (ISVs) with technical and marketing support. Through the GPS Partners program, ISVs will have access to a variety of software developer kits (SDKs) designed to take the mystery out of GPS application development.
SDKs are currently available for DOS, Windows and PenPoint operating systems with others under development. Members will also receive information on future hardware development, including GPS receivers using the PCMCIA Type II interface. Finally, Trimble will help market final solutions by providing referrals, market intelligence and access to its own distribution channels.
"In order for GPS to fulfill the promise of its mobile computing debut, location must become deeply embedded into a wide range of applications," said William Dussell, major accounts manager at Trimble Navigation. "One of the primary goals of the Trimble GPS Partners program is to act as a catalyst in bringing these mobile computing solutions to market," Dussell added.
Over the past year, industry observers have praised the virtues of marrying pen computers, personal digital assistants and personal communicators with GPS receivers. Application developers and ISVs interested in joining GPS Trimble Partners program, call Trimble Navigation at 800-827-8000 ext. 2217 and ask to receive a complete membership package.
