Xplore Technologies Bolsters its Depth with New Hires and Board Appointment

TORONTO — August 3, 2000 — Xplore Technologies has made pivotal new hires and board appointments as it moves to its next phase of business strategy. With the announcement of several key contract wins and strategic relationships, the Company felt it was important to strengthen its management team.

"Xplore is entering the next phase in its development as we pass from a predominantly research and development mode to engagement and fulfillment of significant contractual agreements," says Brian Groh, President and CEO, Xplore Technologies. "Through a series of recent hires and the acquisition of Ramline, we have strengthened our management team and are in a solid position to be a leader in rugged, mobile, wireless pen computing."

Roy Scaini has been appointed Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and will be responsible for managing the finance and accounting operations within the company, as well as overseeing capital acquisition programs. Scaini has international finance and operations experience, having worked as CFO at e- solutions Software Inc. In addition, he served as Vice-President of Finance and Operations for the International Group of the Learning Company, the largest educational and productivity software publisher in the world. Scaini also has served as a senior manager at Arthur Andersen in both Toronto and Milan Italy.

Jan Thorell has been named Vice President International at Xplore and will be responsible for international expansion. Thorell joined Xplore when it acquired Ramline Mobile Computers AB in June 2000. Thorell was president and CEO of Ramline Mobile Computers and has extensive experience in the rugged mobile computing market.

He was a part founder of Savenska Industrielektronik AB, a concessionaire for Psion Computers, BARCO projectors and Fujitsu Handheld Pen Computers, where he played a significant role in selling a majority of the pen tablets in Scandinavia between 1996 and 1998. He also was responsible for the introduction of AST Computers and Hayes in Sweden.

Kari Myllykoski has been named Vice President, Business Development working with all Xplore divisions to identify new opportunities in the Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) and Original Development Manufacturing (ODM) markets for Xplore. Myllykoski brings extensive industry knowledge and experience and will work with customers and the new product division to develop customer-specific solutions. Myllykoski is the founder of recently acquired Ramline and is the designer of all Ramline products. Prior to Ramline, Myllykoski was a distributor of Husky computers in Finland.

Jeff Barrus has been appointed as Vice President, Research and Development, and will oversee all research and development work for Xplore Technologies. Prior to Xplore, Barrus was Director of Portable Products at Micron Electronics, where he was responsible for development and planning of the company's notebook line. Barrus also has served as Mechanical and Options Manager for value line portables at Compaq.

Frank M. Muller, Jr., has been named to the Board of Directors of Xplore Technologies. Muller is Senior Vice President of The Coastal Corporation, responsible for special projects and joint ventures. Muller has a successful track record in managing numerous start-up companies and helping large and small organizations troubleshoot issues. Muller also is Chairman of the Board of Ten X Technology Inc., an established computer software and hardware research and development company in Austin, Texas.
