ZAP-IT Demonstrated During Windows CE Launch Event, COMDEX

LAS VEGAS — November 18, 1996 — DTS Wireless, a leading provider of wireless messaging services, today announced its two-way wireless messaging service for the new Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE platform. To illustrate the mobile communication capabilities of its new hand-held PC device, Microsoft debuted the service last night during the official launch of Windows CE.

Consistent with its applications for other hand-held computer devices, ZAP-IT(TM) allows Windows CE users to receive and respond to email, fax and phone messages with one wireless service. It is being demonstrated at Fall COMDEX, November 18-22, at the Microsoft Partner Pavilion (F4), and the booths of USRobotics (L4002), NEC, and Ricoh (L516) in the main convention center.

"We've developed a service that truly enhances the mobile communications capability of the new Windows CE platform," said Neil Lewis, vice president of marketing for DTS Wireless. "We see great potential for the wireless messaging industry, especially with Microsoft's leadership and the availability of the Windows 95 interface in a hand-held computer."

Unique features of ZAP-IT wireless service include the ability for subscribers to:

* maintain a single 800 number for incoming fax and phone messages;

* preview messages;

* fax documents using prestored attachments and letterhead;

* redirect incoming messages to nearby fax machines; and

* access Web pages viewed in text mode.

"For the millions of mobile professionals who already use Windows and supporting applications, Windows CE offers a convenient way to work seamlessly from the office to the home and while traveling," Lewis said. "ZAP-IT enhances these benefits by keeping people in touch with important messages — whether they are email, fax or phone — with the convenience of one wireless service."

Subscribers can choose from five pricing plans, including a basic plan at $9.95 per month. The service is offered over the RAM Mobile Data wireless network and requires a U.S. Robotics AllPoints Wireless PC Card.

Microsoft developed Windows CE to provide mobile professionals using Windows-based personal computers with an affordable, easy-to-use mobile PC companion to keep their most important information up to date and close at hand. Microsoft anticipates the first devices to be commercially available before the end of the year, with prices for base configurations expected to start around $500.

ZAP-IT wireless service also is available for laptops running Windows 95, Windows 3.1 or DOS 5.0, as well as HP 100/200 LX palmtop series.

Founded in 1992, DTS Wireless is a leading provider of wireless messaging services for laptop and hand-held computer users. The company is based in Woodbridge, N.J. Major shareholders in the company include L.M. Ericsson and the founders of RAM Mobile Data. For sales information about ZAP-IT, call 888-2-GET-DTS (888-243-8387).
