Microprocessor Forum

The Fourth Annual Microprocessor Forum will be held in San Francisco on November 6th and 7th. The conference will feature presentations on the latest developments in microprocessor technology. One session will deal exclusively with microprocessors for portable computers. We have found the conference very informative in the past. For more information, call 800-327-9893 (Fax: 415-549-4342) or write to Microprocessor Forum, 2115 Fourth St., Berkeley, CA 94710.

The Latest From GO

GO’s Lynn Carpenter tells us that the release of PenPoint 1.0 is on track for December with beta testing beginning this Fall. PenPoint 1.0 will run on Intel 80386 processors.

According to Carpenter, developers converting from the 80286 version of PenPoint to the 80386 version will have to perform some “minor rewrites” to their code.

Meanwhile, PenPoint 2.0 will be released some time next year and will include international support, including support of the Unicode character set. We’ll have more on Unicode and related topics in a future issue.
