While the PDA industry has produced some very innovative technology that certainly offers potential for the future, present-day PDA vendors have had only limited opportunity to get crucial feedback from an important constituency—the corporate developer.
In fact, as with other segments of the pen computing market, the availability of useful and productivity-enhancing vertical applications may be just what’s needed to shake the industry from its present doldrums.
The PDA Industry Forum, a new conference conceived by World Market Strategies Ltd., will bring together PDA suppliers and manufacturers with major corporate users and application developers. The conference, which will be held in San Jose, California on January 11-12, 1995, has the goal of identifying real customer problems and hopefully getting the message directly to the people creating new technologies.
Conference attendance is being organized by invitation only, which will enable attendees to participate fully in the sessions, as opposed to passively listening to presentations. The sessions will focus on both industry trends and customer strategies for deploying PDA technology in a corporate environment.
In particular, sessions will cover topics such as an assessment of the “State of the Union” by leading research analysts, an overview of operating systems, and problem definition and opportunity analysis from customers and vendors.
The PDA Forum will also feature a two-day tabletop exhibition that will enable participating vendors to display new capabilities and technologies.
