History
PDA Developers East '95 was a two-day technical conference for software developers building personal digital assistant (PDA) products, held in Framingham, Massachusetts, on August 5 and 6, 1995.1 It was hosted by Creative Digital, Inc., the San Francisco publisher of PDA Developers magazine, and co-sponsored by Geoworks, Inc.1
The program was built around a series of four-hour afternoon tutorials, each presented by technical educators from the platform companies themselves and divided into introductory and advanced sections.1 The scheduled tutorials covered software development for the Apple Newton, Psion, GEOS, and General Magic platforms, and the organizers noted that further tutorials would be added.1
Three industry executives were billed as keynote speakers: Gordon Mayer, President and CEO of Geoworks, Inc.; David Elder, President of Pdix, Inc.; and Jean Belanger, CEO of Metrowerks, Inc.1 Alongside the keynotes and tutorials, the conference offered panel sessions on developer tools and on wireless development, and a Tools Showcase of short presentations by tool vendors, during which donated hardware and software were to be raffled to attendees.1
The conference was held at the Sheraton Tara Hotel in Framingham, and attendees who registered before June 1 saved up to $125 off the full conference fee.1
