Metrowerks, Inc. – Metrowerks CodeWarrior for Windows CE (Brochure)
CodeWarrior for Windows CE was an embedded programming toolset that Metrowerks, Inc. announced for release in the first quarter of calendar 1998. The brochure described Microsoft Windows CE support transparently integrated into the CodeWarrior integrated development environment, targeting the PowerPC, MIPS, x86, ARM, SuperH, and NEC VR-series microprocessors. Microsoft's Windows CE 2.0 SDK and libraries were bundled, with compiler and linker support tuned for each architecture.
To let developers begin before the targeted tools shipped, the IDE included a Win32 API emulator for testing software immediately. Metrowerks positioned the product on its established CodeWarrior IDE — used by more than 100,000 developers — which combined an editor, project manager, class browser, C/C++ and Java compilers, debugger, simulator, assembler, and linker in a single environment. The Windows CE tools ran on Windows 95 and Windows NT.
