History
The GO Corporation 1993 Catalog of Products and Services Participation Request Form is a one-page solicitation circulated by GO Corporation to gather entries for the second edition of its Catalog of Products and Services.1 The form invited software developers, computer consultants and programmers, OEMs, and value-added resellers offering industry-specific solutions to list their PenPoint products and services in the directory.2
In July 1990, GO Corporation unveiled its pen-based operating environment strategy and named Borland International, Lotus Development Corp., WordPerfect Corp., Slate Corp., and PenSoft Corp. among the independent software vendors developing for the system, with IBM as its first hardware licensee.3 By January 1991, GO reported that forty companies had publicly committed to develop for or supply technology to its PenPoint operating system, spanning software developers, connectivity vendors, and systems integrators.4 Among the publishers committing that year was Software Publishing Corp., which formed a project team to build PenPoint applications and announced the plan at the Pen Computing 1991 conference in Burlingame, California.5
Companies that opted in were to receive a package containing a sample page template, product and service description guidelines, and a schedule of deadlines for submitting company logos, a product screen shot, and product and service descriptions.6 Completed forms were returned by fax or mail to Jackie Patton at GO Corporation's offices at 919 E. Hillsdale Boulevard, Suite 400, Foster City, California.7
