Pen-Based Computing is expanding again, primarily because we believe we are beginning to see the reemergence of the wireless and stylus-based mobile computing marketplace. Much of our optimism is due to a subject we give a lot of attention in this newsletter, namely the vertical markets. Companies are increasingly focusing their efforts on this vital business, with the results speaking for themselves.
To match this increased activity, Pen-Based Computing is constantly searching for ways to improve its service of getting critical information into the hands of mobile professionals and corporate decision makers. Last month, we initiated our electronic versions of the newsletter—dubbed Pen-Based Computing / Online—for Windows, Macintosh, and Newton-based computers.
This month, we are pleased to announce that Pen-Based Computing will be actively supporting a new source of information concerning mobile computing on the Internet’s Worldwide Web (WWW). The Pen-Based Computing / WWW service initially contains information about the newsletter and other mobile computing services that we provide. The WWW pages also contain sample articles from current and past issues of the newsletter, along with a complete index to all of the editorial content printed over the past four years. In the future, we plan to use the WWW, along with other electronic delivery options, to complement your subscription to the newsletter.
To access the Worldwide Web, you need to use a web browser such as the NSCA’s Mosaic graphical browser, or other compatible programs including the line-oriented Lynx. These programs require you to have either a direct connection to the Internet, or a connection over regular phone lines using the SLIP or PPP protocols. To visit Pen-Based Computing / WWW, enter the following URL (Uniform Resource Locator) in the appropriate field of your WWW browser:
ftp://ftp.netcom.com/pub/jerney/www/pbc.html
This will take you directly to the home page of Pen-Based Computing / WWW and enable you to access additional information through much more friendly hypertext links. Thanks for your interest and please drive carefully in cyberspace.
